Cyber Terrorism Get The Taste Of Democracy

The LTTE’s infamous website nitharsanam.com was temporarily shut down by the USA based ‘Go-Daddy’ web provider on 25 April 2006. The significance of the shut down comes at the time when LTTE declared war against the Sri Lankan government by its usual method of declaring cyber war by threatening suicide attacks. This time the target was the Army Commander Lt Gen Sarath Fonseka which the website confirmed in advance.

Nithasanam,com is the official website of the LTTE operating from Oslo. The website was operated by the infamous Nadarajah Sethuruparan known as Dirty Sethu who is well known forproducing hate news which resulted in the deaths of some in Sri Lankans. Dirty Sethu is a trusted friend of the intelligence head of the LTTE Pottu Amman and his website has reported news upfront about individuals targeted by the LTTE. The killing of the Principal of Jaffna Central College Rajadurai last year was reported as an impending killing by the nitharsanam.com and what followed was the ultimate penalty declared by nitharsanam.com on him.

The photographs of Sethu holding a revolver and standing shoulder to shoulder with the political head of the LTTE S P Thamilchelvan received much publicity in the media. Sethu also flew to Bangkok on the invitation of Anton Balasingam to report his version of the news in the nitharsanam.com in 2003.

The reasons for the shut down were a mix of various factors. Many democratic voices in the Tamil Diaspora were systematically targeted by Dirty Sethu of nitharsanam.com. Victims of nitharsanam.com were unlimited. The first of nitharsananam victims were said to be Denmark based outspoken Kumarathurai (brother of late Thangathurai MP assassinated by the LTTE) and his sons Vathananan and Mathi. Last year nitharsanam doctored the photograph of the TULF leader Anandasangaree and portrayed him as a mongrel and a Sinhala patriot. Dirty Sethu also portrayed the respectable head of Muslim Information Centre in London Sayed Bazeer as Bin Laden’s man. He projected the leader of the Tamil Democratic Congress Rajasingham Jayadevan as traitor and published photographs of him by whitening his eyes and setting a target range on his head.

Combination of various factors contributed towards the shut down of the site. Anandasangaree had complained to the Go-Daddy provider and asked them to take immediate action. Sayed Bazeer being a solicitor served legal notice on Go-daddy. Jayadevan went to the extent of making a formal complaint with the FBI in the USA and made official protest to the Norwegian authorities. The Nitharsanam came under the watchful eyes of the police authority in Oslo. Combination of these factors and official protestation by the Sri Lankan government to US government became too much for the Nithasanam to survive.

Dirty Sethu being dirty in his conduct will now be on his fishing expedition to form another nitharsanam, hook or by crook to maintain his status within the degenerated lots he was able to cultivate.

Lt. Gen Sarath Fonseka’s fate was portrayed very clearly by Pottu’s Dirty Sethu in Nitharsanam when he was appointed by the President Rajapakse.

Sethu is a replica of LTTE ideologue Anton Balasingam. Balasingam is well known for making veil threats in his public addresses against individuals which has resulted in killings of many prominent Sri Lankans. Sethu had gone one step further from his Guru Anton Balasingam by publishing direct threats on people whom he hated.

Sethu is said to be unemployed and he lives on the earnings of his hard working wife and the dole given by the LTTE’s intelligence head Pottu.
